Meet the Southeast Soccer
Club
The SOUTHEAST SOCCER CLUB was organized in 1980 to provide soccer opportunities for students of the former Marshall-University High School. It was and continues to be, a non-profit group of area residents interested in the promotion and enjoyment of soccer by young people. Following the closing of Marshall-U High, the Club has grown in response to community interests and needs.
While
the philosophy of the Club has remained the same over the years --i.e.
an
opportunity
for youth with similar interests to make new friends, develop solid soccer
skills and to display good sportsmanship at all times -- the geographic
boundaries have changed. Due to the location of schools in relation to
neighborhoods, the Club's enrollment is no longer limited to Southeast
Minneapolis. There are now players from all parts of the Twin Cities, including
suburban areas.
Unchanged is the desire to welcome beginning players as well as experienced ones. What sets the SOUTHEAST SOCCER CLUB apart from many other clubs is the focus on teaching soccer, not mere supervision of groups of children. Win or lose -- players and parents alike are expected to maintain the high level of commitment the Club has established over the years.
